SALT LAKE CITY — No. 6 LSU’s gymnastics team fell to No. 3 Utah on the road in the season opener by a final score of 197.275-196.725 on Saturday night in Salt Lake City.
However, the Tigers’ 196.725 was the highest score in a road season opener in program history.
“It was a solid start,” head coach Jay Clark said. “The difference in the meet is that we walked in almost all our landings throughout the meet, and they did not. We could have landed more than that. I am proud of the fight and the fact that we were able to move on the road and not fall. This is the beginning of the basics and we are very close to do what we want, and now we’ll move on to the next one and focus on getting better”
