Alabama continued to show why it is the No. 1- ranked men’s basketball team in the country and the top seed in the NCAA Tournament by crushing 8-seed Maryland, 73-51, on Saturday night at the Heritage Arena in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Crimson Tide led 28-23 at the half, but broke the game open in the second half by outscoring the Terrapins 45-28.
Jahvon Quinerly and Brandon Miller combined for 41 points, more than half of Bama’s total on the night.
Quinerly led the way with 22, hitting 9 of 14 shots from the field. He also added three steals.
Miller made just 5 of 17 field goal attempts, but added 19 points and seven rebounds for Bama.
Charles Bediako, the Tide’s 7-foot center, added 10 points and many rebounds while also blocking two shots.
The Tide team defense held Maryland to .352 field-goal shooting overall (19 of 54) and allowed just one 3-pointer in eight attempts.

Alabama improved to 31-5 and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
Maryland finished the season with a 22-13 record.
