The Ogun State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has dismissed reports that its candidate in the March 11 governorship election, Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has withdrawn.
The objection was issued by Oluwatioyin Afuye, the Ogun NNPP secretary.
Afuye noted that the report contained the work of what he described as miscreants who wanted to cause confusion.
Rejecting Ajadi’s claims of resignation, the secretary said: “We want to state clearly here that nothing could be further from the truth.
“The rumor that he withdrew from the race and adopted one Hon Oladipupo Adebutu alias LADO of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is the work of mischievous elements who want to cause confusion in our party ranks, for their selfish interests.
“This is not true and false, in fact, the imagination of traders, and should be treated as such”.
Making reference to an article published in a national daily which claimed that the NNPP is among the ten political parties that have entered into a pact with the aim of ousting the incumbent, Dapo Abiodun, the secretary of the NNPP said that is not true.
Afuye added that if there is such alignment, NNPP is not that party.
According to him, as much as it is necessary to overthrow the sitting government in the country because it failed to change the fortunes of Ogun, no Alignment of the ten parties for the most knowledge has been formed.
“If anything, we would have been informed and in fact brought in a large number of members. Now, it’s rumors and lies.”
NNPP National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Agbo Major, also repeated the words of Afuye.
The Major, on his part, charged members of the NNPP to remain focused, campaign diligently, and ensure the party sweeps the March 11, 2023 governorship and State House of Assembly elections across the country.
He said: “Our great party has no alliance with any political party in this election. Therefore, party officials, members and candidates at all levels have no authority to discuss, negotiate or form alliances with any political party for the purpose of winning the gubernatorial and legislative elections. will come. Anyone who supports the candidate of another political party will be subject to sanctions in accordance with the NNPP Constitution ranging from suspension from office, suspension from the party, and possibly dismissal.
