The World Happiness Report, a Sustainable Development Solutions publication, says Nigerians are the 95th happiest people in the world.
The report shows that Nigeria has improved by 23 places in the world happiness ranking.
According to the report, released every year to mark the International Day of Happiness, designated by the United Nations and celebrated on March 20, Nigeria is currently ranked 95 out of 137 countries surveyed.
The data shows that Nigeria is below Guinea, Ukraine, Ivory Coast and Gabon and above Cameroon, Mozambique, Iraq, Palestine and Morocco.
Supported by Gallup World Poll data, the report shows that for the sixth time in a row, Finland is the happiest country.
Other countries with the least happy people in order are Denmark, Iceland, Israel, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Luxembourg and New Zealand.
Countries with low ranking are Malawi, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone, Lebanon and Afghanistan.
Happiness agenda
The report states that the way to measure a nation’s happiness is to ask a nationally representative sample how satisfied they are with their lives.
According to these reports, a population will only experience an overall level of life satisfaction if its people are also pro-social, healthy, and prosperous.
“In other words, people must have a high level of what Aristotle called ‘eudaimonia’. So at the level of society, life satisfaction and eudaimonia are interconnected.

“But at the individual level, they can be different. As the evidence shows, good behavior generally increases the incidence of virtuous actors (as well as beneficiaries). But there are many virtuous people, including some caregivers, who are not satisfied with their lives,” he said. the report.
From happy to low
Despite the improvements measured in the rankings, it is believed that there is still room for improvement.
Only two decades ago, Nigeria was the happiest country.
In 2003, the World Values Survey reported that the happiest people in the world live in Nigeria.
The research that has been going on for three years is important because it is the excitement of Nigerians to reach the top position.
This year’s survey revealed that the effectiveness of government has a significant impact on people’s happiness.
In measuring the state’s capacity, the rule of law is a factor; fiscal power (ability to collect money), collective capacity (ability to deliver services), legal capacity (rule of law), prevention and prevention of repression.

The annual World Happiness Report examines the current state of happiness and shows how the science of happiness explains individual and national variations in happiness.
