Nigerians, 25th of February is your last chance, By Dr Ayo Akerele

Nigerians, as the day of reckoning beckons on you, the day you will make the choice of the next leader, I am writing to speak to my conscience with a deep sense of total concern and passionate appeal. I am writing to speak to my conscience … that should not blow this last chance. Yes, this is the last chance to save this sinking ship, at least for your children, many of whom never witnessed the comfort of the past, but now face a heavy task, carrying a burden without hope, poverty. and future poverty.

It was Aristotle who said “Tolerance is the last virtue of a dead society”. But, have Nigerians really reached their limits? Someone said, “Nigerians are very tolerant. If you push them to the wall, instead of fighting, they will go through the wall”.

In July 2020, I woke up from a terrifying night vision about Nigeria. I noticed that the neighborhood in Nigeria seems to be deserted. It was a sight reminiscent of the war-torn city of Mogadishu. Stores and businesses were emptied; the roads are flooded, dirty, dirty, smelly, smelly and crowded. Some of the roads leading to the highway were covered in human blood. The buildings were rickety and ram-shackled; and the people who were still alive stood far away in the streets standing in a panic. There was no food to eat or water to drink, as I combed the neighborhood from building to building, and from shop to shop. It was a terrible sight. I woke up with a heavy weight on my heart. Looking at the past, I started to fear for the future of Nigeria.

William Federer accurately noted that, “the story of the future is written in the past”. Beyond this more than the poet, Carl Sandburg, who also said, “When a nation collapses or a society dies, one situation may be found; they forgot where they came from. They do not see what has brought them.”

Indeed, Nigerians have lost focus on their history.

Nigerians, as the day of reckoning beckons on you, the day you will make the choice of the next leader, I am writing to speak to my conscience with a deep sense of total concern and passionate appeal. I write to speak to the conscience, the internal dashboard given to each person by God to guide and shape decisions and choices, which should not blow this last chance. Yes, this is the last chance to save this sinking ship, at least for your children, many of whom never witnessed the comfort of the past, but now face a heavy task, carrying a burden without hope, poverty. and future poverty. Indeed, Nigeria is one of the greatest countries on earth, in terms of potential. Sadly, it is one of the worst countries on earth to pursue your dreams and fulfill your destiny. In almost every known measure of social success, Nigeria is unranked.

Historically, the Nigerian population has been the victim of many weapons, poverty and ignorance… To make matters worse for Nigerians, the corrupt political elite, together with their bad collaborators in the private sector, have decided to punish Nigerians with the implementation of poverty and slums of the currency swap policy, thoroughly weakening people and preparing ahead for easy financial inducement in the polls.

Nigeria is at the crossroads of this darkness because at all levels, in the church and outside the church; righteousness has escaped from the nation. Politicians, in general, are agents of darkness. In addition, the church, which should be the light of the world, has been greatly compromised. The world is now the light of the church. So bad now that many of the leaders of the church in Nigeria have abandoned their first love completely, and are now winning and eating with mammon, with many people actually participating in the reliable dimensions of occult practices and affiliations that millions of Nigerian Christians have. remain oblivious about it. Thus, Nigeria is indeed on a terrible dark path.

I can clearly remember that, the former president of the USA, Ronald Reagan, expressed his amazing sentiments to the American people in an effort to complement the attraction that was clearly absent at the most critical time in their history. He said, and I quote, “Freedom is not more than one generation away from extinction. We do not pass it to our children in our blood stream. It must be fought for, protected, and passed on so that they do the same, or one day we will spend our twilight years telling our children and our children’s children what it was like in the United States when people were free.

The spirit, the decision to fight for the future of your children by electing the right leader to lead us in the next four years. It is a decision to fight against ethnocentric sentiments, religious bigotry and primordial sentiments, by choosing people who have values that you want your children to emulate in the future. Historically, the Nigerian population has been a victim of many weapons, poverty and ignorance. One of the most powerful tools in the hands of evil leaders is “poverty”. It is a tool used all over the world to humiliate people and force them to trade their conscience for temporary financial satisfaction. It was used by Adolf Hitler to honor the church in Germany. It was used by Joseph Stalin in Russia. In recent times, it has been used by some despots and other narcissistic leaders, especially in Africa. To make matters worse for Nigerians, the corrupt political elites, together with their evil collaborators in the private sector, have decided to punish Nigerians with the impoverished and shabby currency swap policy implementation, thoroughly demoralizing the people and preparing them for easy financial. induction in the polls.

… you, man, hold the ace. It is the last chance to decimate the darkness. This is your last chance to unite with one voice and change the trajectory of this sinking ship. The power is in your hands, Nigerians. The power of change is fueled by the power of unity, unity of purpose and unity of direction. If you can hold your head, tighten your fists for inducements, despite the pain now, and put your feet on the ground to choose a good leader, the sun will shine again.

But you, man, hold the ace. It is the last chance to decimate the darkness. This is your last chance to unite with one voice and change the trajectory of this sinking ship. The power is in your hands, Nigerians. The power of change is fueled by the power of unity, unity of purpose and unity of direction. If you can hold your head, tighten your fist against the inducements, despite the pain now, and put your feet on the ground to choose a good leader, the sun will shine again. I don’t want to belabour you with what you already know. My task is very simple, to help you appreciate the sensitivity and strategic nature of the decisions you will make on the 25thTh from February. Remember, no one will bear the consequences of this decision, but you and your children.

Don’t believe the truth. Lord Acton said, “Official Truth is not Real Truth”. The truth is full of lies. The truth is that your current boss doesn’t love you. You are just a tool in their hands to help them achieve their goals. This truth should guide you to choose a leader whose manifesto, personal integrity, past results, and current mental and intellectual capacity do not have the ethno-religious sentiments that are in front of you sir, the leader whose fate then and now you want your children. .

February 25 is a date with destiny, Nigerians. You must not blow. It’s the last chance.
