Nigerian photojournalist, Femi Adebesin-Kuti, is dead

The Photo Editor of the Guardian Newspaper, Femi Adebesin-Kuti, has died.

Mr Adebesin-Kuti died on Friday at the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

He had checked into the facility about two weeks before his death.

The Photo Journalists Association of Nigeria (PJAN) announced them through a statement issued by its chairman, Kola Olasupo and secretary, Sly Okoruwa.

“We members of the Photo Journalists Association of Nigeria (PJAN) are sorry to announce the death of our former Vice Chairman, Femi Adebesin- Kuti.

“Until his death, Femi Kuti was the Photo editor of the Guardian Newspaper”, the statement read.

“His death came as a shock to the association because the association gathered him in his last days on earth with financial support, but God called him on Friday January 6, 2023.

“All members of PJAN mourn our comrades as well as their families, Guardian Newspaper and Lagos NUJ.”

Also, the Lagos Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in a statement by its chairman, Adeleye Ajayi, expressed shock at the news of the death of the photojournalist and sent condolences.

The remains of Mr. Adebesin-Kuti have been buried in Abeokuta according to Islamic rites.
