Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubuhas dismissed claims by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over overvoting in Ekiti State during Saturday’s presidential election.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the election with the PDP coming behind.
The Ekiti State results were the first to be called officially at the National Collegiate Center in Abuja on Sunday.
On Monday, the PDP agent, Dino Melaye, called for the annulment of the results for alleged overvoting that tainted the elections in the state.
Mr. Melaye earlier confirmed that there were about 800 surplus votes in Ekiti state.
He and another party agent, Emeka Iheodia, walked out of the National Collation Center after the INEC chairman refused to grant their demands.
Mr. Yakubu, later reacting to the allegation, said there was no overvoting in Ekiti State.
He also said that there was no excessive voting in Ekiti State because party agents had added their signatures in agreement with the result sheet.
He said the figures given by the PDP agents were not out of the commission.

He said the figures available to the commission showed 315,058 total accredited votes and 308,171 valid votes. He added that the rejected votes were 6,301.
He asked political parties to approach the commission for compensation if they have result sheets showing different figures.
“If there is a figure that is different from what I said … please the discontent of the figure, it does not come from the commission,” he said.
