The editorial board of the Times Union called on Rep. Elise Stefanik (RN.Y.) to call serial liar Rep. George Santos (RN.Y.), to whom he agreed cautiously in the middle of the 2022 semester.
Donald Trump-loving Stefanik is “at the top of the complacent list” of House GOP leaders who have remained silent over the scandal surrounding Santos, a New York state newspaper wrote in a damning opinion piece Wednesday.
Stefanik “continued to stiff-arm questions” about Santos and “stopped by” as House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) placed in the small business and science, space and technology committees, the editorial noted.
“The prospect that Mr. Santos will make any meaningful contribution to either panel is about as poor as the odds that he will become a brain surgeon in the spring. (Then again, he might statement become one.),” he said.
“Now it’s time for Ms. Stefanik – a social-media scourge often any politician accused of wrongdoing who is not a member of the party – to show some of the integrity shown by her GOP state colleagues,” it concluded.
