NDC To Elect Presidential Candidate on May 13 . . . Cost of Forms Adjusted To GH¢50,000 | Politics

The Secretary General of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Kwetey has announced the date for the opening of nominations, purchase of forms and submission of nomination forms for the election of Presidential Candidates for the party ahead of the 2024 General Election.

Nominations are open from February 22 to February 24, 2023.

Each candidate must be nominated on a separate nomination form.

However, the nomination form has been set up from GH¢30,000 to GH¢50,000

“Nomination forms are available at the office of the Secretary General for purchase at a non-refundable fee of 50,000 Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 50,000.00) payable by banker’s draft,” the Election notice signed by the Secretary General stated.

“Completed nomination papers must be sent to me with the required deposit of Ghc 500,000.00 (Bankers draft) between the hours mentioned in aboce from March 20 to March 22 at the Party Headquarters,” he added.

The polls will be held at selected places in the Constituency in all areas between seven in the morning and five in the evening on May 13, 2023.

Schedule

The presidential and parliamentary elections will be held simultaneously on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

Announcing the election schedule at a press conference held in Accra on Wednesday, January 18, NDC Secretary General, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, said the two elections will be held on the same day in all polling centers in the 276 constituencies. including Santrokofi Akpafu Likpe and Lolobi (SALL), and NDC headquarters will also be polling centres,” Mr Kwetey said.

Present at the press conference are the National Chairman of the party, Johnson Aseidu Nketiah; National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi; NDC legal team member, Baba Jamal, and former flag bearer candidate, Sylvester Mensah among other party members.

According to the schedule, nominations for parliamentary candidates will open on February 22 to 24 to give room to those interested to choose the nomination form through the NDC website with a fee of GH¢5000 to be paid through Mobile Money.

Although nominations for the presidential candidate will also commence from February 22 to 24, interested candidates must pick up nomination forms directly from the office of the party’s General Secretary and pay a fee of GH¢30,000 through a banker’s draft.

However, female and physically challenged candidates will have to pay only 50 percent of the fees charged.

Presidential and parliamentary candidates who are candidates will be required to submit completed forms between March 20 and 22 before vetting will begin on March 27 to 29.

There is also a window for appeals on the results of the vetting process between March 30 and April 6 before the election on May 13.
