NDC Primaries: Chaina-Paga Parliamentary aspirants advise delegates not to buy votes
Some parliamentary aspirants and members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Chaina-Paga constituency in the Upper East Region have warned delegates not to buy votes and vote for parliamentary candidates who can address the developmental challenges facing the constituency.
He said vote buying was partly to blame for the lack of development in the constituencies that needed to be stopped.
Located on the border with Burkina Faso with a high volume of commercial activity, the various aspirants advised the delegates to vote for development-oriented candidates.
Four parliamentary aspirants have filled nomination forms to contest the NDC parliamentary primaries in Chaina-Paga constituency.
The four candidates are sitting members of parliament, Thomas Dalu, Francis Abirigo, Raphael Alijina, and Nikyema Billa Alamzy.
Incumbent Member of Parliament, Thomas Dalu, said his work in the constituency would be rewarded by the delegates to continue his development agenda.
For Raphael Alijina, a private legal practitioner, the constituency has for a long time, not produced competent MPs who have the network to champion the constituent’s road, so he decided to apply his skills and lobbying expertise to develop his constituency when elected.
However, Francis Abirigo is optimistic that his people’s project agenda has what it takes to boost productivity and improve the livelihoods of his constituents, and appealed to delegates to vote for him in large numbers.
The NDC has scheduled May 13 for parliamentary and presidential primaries.
