The caucus argued that Judge Gaewu is a parliamentary candidate on a New Patriotic Party (NPP) ticket and is therefore unfit to sit on the bench of the apex court.
Asawase Member of Parliament, Muntaka Mubarak suggested that his approval would “evil shadow in the House. If you set a bad precedent, tomorrow it becomes a benchmark for others to make similar demands.”
As for Mr. George Koomson, the Minority insisted that he “only joined the Court of Appeal,” and that there were other competent and qualified judges who could have been appointed to the High Court instead of him.

If MPs cannot reach a decision, the agreement will be reached through a secret ballot process.
