NDC minority leadership reshuffle: internal healthy disagreement – Franklin Cudjoe

The Founding President and Chief Executive of IMANI Center for Policy and Education, Franklin Cudjoe, has described the healthy internal wrangling in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following the change of leadership in Parliament.

There was some disagreement among the Minority caucus after the party replaced Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu with Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, MP for Ellembelle also replaces Ketu North MP, James Klutse Avedzi as Deputy Minority Leader while Kwame Governs Agbodza replaces Asawase MP, Muntaka Mubarak as Minority Chief Whip.

Several MPs signed a petition to reject the party’s decision due to the lack of consultation. Other lawmakers have also asked the NDC leadership to ignore the plea that the reshuffling be called off.

Speak in The Big Issue at Read TV / Read FM with Selorm Adonoo, Mr. Cudjoe said, “From us, we think that disagreement in the faction is healthy. How to disagree or do is quite important, so we pull in the middle line”.

“I also know that the parties, for lack of better words, who were taken from the seats, know that at one point or another, this will come,” said President IMANI.

Mr. Cudjoe asked the factions on the minority leader’s side to come out and sign for a ceasefire as recommended by the party’s Council of Elders.

“I think this matter should be addressed by the leader. The Council of Elders has just stepped in,” he said.

The party’s Council of Elders on Saturday, January 28, 2023, issued a statement and called on MPs and other party members to desist.
