The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has opened an investigation into the alleged mistreatment of Nigeria-bound passengers by German carrier Lufthansa Airlines.
The General Manager, Public Affairs, NCAA, Sam Adurogboye, disclosed this in Lagos.
Adurogboye said the NCAA received a complaint about the alleged maltreatment of over 200 Nigeria-bound passengers.
“I just got the Consumer Affairs Department and I was told that the report arrived today and, therefore, they have just started an investigation into the matter,” Adurogboye said.
A flight to Lagos from Frankfurt that was supposed to arrive at Murtala Muhammed International Airport at 5:45pm last Friday arrived at 2:00am after diverting to Cotonou, Benin Republic, and Malabo in Equatorial Guinea.
It was gathered that the plane had been hovering at the Lagos airport for an hour before heading to Cotonou.
On arrival in Lagos at 2:00 am, the passengers asked the airline to make arrangements to stay, but the operator threatened to call the police.
Also, it was reported that the Lagos airport was not closed, contrary to the claims of Lufthansa pilots.
The NCAA said it will make the results of its investigation into the matter a reality.
