The NBA on Friday admitted that officials made seven incorrect calls in the final two minutes of regulation and the following two overtimes during the Dallas Mavericks’ 119-115 win over the host Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday.
Not among those calls was the one that seemed to anger the Lakers the most. Troy Brown opened a 3-pointer at the end of regulation, and Mavericks’ Tim Hardaway Jr. hit the ball and Brown’s shooting hand.
According to the NBA’s Latest Two-Minute Report , the play was properly ruled because Hardaway “legally denied” the shot. Any “high five” contact with Brown’s hand was incidental, the report indicated.
One bad call against Lakers LeBron James at the end of the first overtime. As he attempted the game-winning shot at 108 and 2.9 seconds left, James was hit in the arm by Christian Wood before Wood blocked the shot.
Furthermore, Luka Doncic of the Mavericks should have been assessed a foul after the block for hitting the arm of Lakers Wenyen Gabriel.
