National Cathedral: I disagree with the call to dissolve the board of trustees – Joyce Aryee

Member of the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral, Rev. Joyce Aryee has rejected calls for the dissolution of the board due to several controversies surrounding the project.

Speak in Witness News at See FM there, the founder and leader of Salt and Light Ministries said, the call for the dissolution of the board of trustees, only from a small percentage of the community.

“This is his opinion and I don’t agree with him. Again who are these people who are talking and what is the percentage of this population,” Reverend Aryee told the host Umaru Sanda Amadu.

Rev. Joyce Aryee also said that the board of trustees did nothing wrong by paying GH¢2.6 million to Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng who is the secretary of the board.

According to him, the money is to repay the loan given by Rev. Kusi Boateng and found the general brouhaha strange.

“In August [2022] we need GH¢ 2.6 million and this letter was written to the effect that the council members decided to help until the money came to the account of the Accountant General. They do not do contract work. Here in salt and light, when the church needs a loan, Joyce Aryee signs a check and when the money comes back. So it’s not a loan and there’s no interest.”

Member of Parliament for Tongu North constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, on Monday, January 16, petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate the GH??2.6 million paid to JNS Talent, a company he owns. by the Secretary of the National Cathedral Council, Victor Kusi Boateng with a different identity.

JNS Talent Center Ltd which allegedly runs a crèche in Dawhenya was paid some GH¢2.6 million to help build the cathedral, Mr Ablakwa said last Wednesday.

The MP said that JNS Talent is owned by one Kwabena Adu Gyamfi.

According to him, the documents in his possession show that Mr. Kwabena Adu Gyamfi is the same Reverend Victor Kusi-Boateng who is still serving in the National Cathedral Council as a Member/Director of the Executive Council.

But Rev. Kusi Boateng responded to the allegations as a twisted narrative of events to pursue a malicious political agenda.

In a statement, the founder and General Overseer of Power Chapel Worldwide said that he will benefit from CHRAJ’s investigation after which he will seek compensation.

“I have noted several publications and defamatory allegations made against my person by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu. I have also been informed that Mr. Ablakwa has petitioned the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate the allegations leveled against me .

“I want to assure the general public that what Mr. Ablakwa said is a twisted narrative of events to pursue a nefarious political agenda. There was never any criminal intent or crime committed during my dealings with the Government of Ghana or the National Cathedral.

“I look forward to the investigation (CHRAJ) when I will give my side of the matter to the Commission. Furthermore, I will also present the matter as a whole to the public without causing any prejudice that has been done. In addition, when everything is done, I will ask for compensation to Mr. Ablakwa for deliberately defamatory statements against me.
