Nasiru Moro scores a consolation goal as Degerfors suffer a heavy home defeat
Ghanaian defender Nasiru Moro was on target for Degerfors IF, but his second-half strike could not prevent a 4-1 home defeat to Mjällby in Allsvenskan action at Stora Valla.
The visitors flew out of the blocks, with Jeppe Kjær opening the scoring inside four minutes before Tom Pettersson doubled the lead on the half-hour and Abdoulie Manneh made it 3-0 before the break.
Degerfors responded immediately after half-time as Moro rose to meet Daniel Sundgren’s delivery and powered a header past Robin Wallinder in the 46th minute to give the hosts hope.
The goal was the centre-back’s first of the 2026 Allsvenskan campaign, taking his tally to 1 goal in 5 league appearances so far. In spite of a brief spell of pressure, Degerfors struggled to find a way back, and Elliot Stroud killed off any comeback with Mjällby’s fourth goal six minutes from time.
The result underlined Mjällby’s ruthless efficiency in front of goal, even though Degerfors actually registered more shots and enjoyed dangerous moments. Moro and his teammates will look to respond when they travel to face GAIS in their next league fixture on Saturday, May 16.
