Names Pop Up In Ministerial Reshuffle | Politics

Reports emanating from government offices indicate that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will reshuffle his cabinet within days.

The reshuffle is expected to transform the government as it takes big steps to win the 2024 presidential election after several calls for the President to juggle ministers and possibly bring in others.

Although the list is not finalised, deep throat sources told DGN Online that Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Minister of Energy will either take over from Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen as the substantive minister of Trade and Industry or move to the ministry of Health to take over from Kwaku Agyeman Manu. who looked tired.

Speculation is rife that the Minister of Energy may be headed by Kobina Tahir Hammond, Member of Parliament (MP) Adansi-Asokwa, who was initially considered for the position at the beginning of the Akufo-Addo administration before Boakye Agyarko torpedoed him.

Agyarko himself could not survive the ministerial juggling because he was sidelined by the raging storm of the Ameri power debate.

There is also a return to government as Bryan Acheampong, MP for Abetifi and former minister of State in the Ministry of National Security will be in charge of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture replacing the previous minister, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto who resigned. to achieve his presidential ambitions.

His presidential campaign is struggling to gain traction even in Kwadaso’s background.

While many people, including over 90 NPP MPs, expected the President to name a new Minister of Finance to replace Ken Ofori-Atta, according to sources, the President will only make the change at the representative level with Mohammed Amin Adam also known as Anta . moved from the Ministry of Energy to the Minister of Finance as Minister of State.

It is not clear if the President will clear Ken Ofori-Atta to leave the government before the entire International Monetary Fund (IMF) deal is completed as the President appears to be impressed with the time record he has negotiated for the IMF bailout.

Akuapem South MP, Osei-Bonsu Amoah, who is currently the Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development is likely to be appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Local Government with the mandate to see the implementation of property rates.

He was the deputy minister of Sports in the Kufuor administration.

Reports say some ministries may be disbanded, but some may be merged with staff being redeployed to parent ministries.

Meanwhile, there is lobbying by some party leaders in the corridors of power over who should get jobs and who should leave as the party unveils its road map for the parliamentary and presidential elections.
