Myla Pablo eager to learn from former rivals as she joins F2 Logistics

MANILA, Philippines – Myla Pablo may have achieved a lot in the Premier Volleyball League but she remains determined to grow even more as an athlete.

That’s why he accepted the challenge of being part of F2 Logistics, which is trying to redeem itself starting at the PVL Open Conference 2023 in February after a very poor finish in the first season last year.

Last December, the two-time PVL MVP just ended his personal five-year title drought after helping Petro Gazz succeed in their title retention bid with a Finals series sweep of Cignal in the Reinforced Conference.

But when his contract expires at the end of 2022, Pablo decided to commit to the Cargo Movers, believing that he can help the powerhouse team after not reaching the semifinals in the two conferences he played.

“Since the program is good and very well known. However, after the pandemic, the challenges faced are also great. So after hearing from the management, I felt the value I could bring and hope to give them in my decision to join them,” said Pablo.

The 29-year-old striker remains grateful to Petro Gazz after playing for the franchise for two seasons, but he believes joining F2 Logistics will help him grow his career.

“I am very grateful to Petro Gazz. During these two years, I learned a lot. And of course, I will carry these lessons forward and throughout my career,” Pablo said in Filipino.

“It was my decision to go to F2 [Cargo Movers] mainly driven by my determination to grow more.”

The former National University star is happy to be part of the new system and culture built by Ramil De Jesus in the past years and will now be under former high school coach turned La Salle player Regine Diego.

From rivals to TEAMmates

Pablo believes that he has made the right decision to join F2 Logistics, where he will also learn from his former college rivals from La Salle with flag bearers Kianna Dy, Ara Galang, Majoy Baron, Aby Marano, setter Kim Fajardo, and libero Dawn Macandili .

“I’m very excited because apart from the coach, F2 has a lot of veteran players. I’ve been playing against him since college. Of course, I will get a lot of lessons from him that will help me and the whole team,” he said.

F2 Logistics needed additional firepower from Pablo as they struggled in the 2022 season, placing sixth in the Open Conference, passing the Invitational, and finishing fifth in the Reinforced Conference.

Pablo will be a big boost to the Cargo Movers offense as he won the 2nd Best Outside Spiker in the Reinforced Conference earlier after emerging as the top 25 scorer of the playoffs with a total of 70 points built on 61 attacks, eight blocks, and an ace.

He rose to the occasion in the Finals, becoming the next offensive option after American import Lindsey Vander Weide’s 17-point performance in Game 2 to complete Petro Gazz’s sweep.
