MTN Announces Data Price Increase

Mobile telecommunications giant, MTN Ghana has announced an increase in the price of data on its network by an average of 15 percent starting February 7, 2023.

This is after the telecommunications network provider reversed its decision to increase data prices on November 14 last year in what management called “further consultation.”

But MTN on February 3, 2022, issued a circular via SMS to all customers stating that the planned data price increase will take place on February 7, 2023.

The circular reads “Dear Customers, Please be informed that effective February 7, 2023, MTN mobile data prices will increase by an average of 15% depending on the product, due to increased operational costs. Please visit our website www.mtn.com.gh for more details.Thank you for choosing MTN.

Each round, the average price increase is 15 percent, which means it will be less than 15% for some products and more than 15 percent for others.

However, network providers fail to provide specific damages to help customers make more informed choices.

Meanwhile, some customers have started to complain about the price of data in the country especially due to the current economic situation.
