Deputy member of the Public Accounts Committee and Member of Parliament for Mpraeso Constituency, Hon. Davis Ansah Opoku has praised the Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum because of the many policies implemented to change the face of education in the country.
Speaking to Republic Press during the donation to support the best 50 students in his constituency, the MP said that the arrangement of the education minister on the school selection and placement system (CSSPS) is exceptional and deserves appreciation.
MP, when speaking in the background of CSSPS denied claims that the system has been very unsatisfactory and perhaps, comes with many challenges as far as the placement system.
“I think this year is a bit different and successful. Lemme use this opportunity to praise the Minister of Education, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum. Looking at the arrangements for Computer placement this year, no one called me to help them face any challenges. First, you can hear problems like people taking money before placement but when we say, because of the hard work of the Minister of Education, Mr. Adutwum, we have to praise him for simplifying CSSPS activities.
Recently, his office and some media houses conducted an investigation and discovered some corrupt practices that took place. Judging from the innovative ideas that have been implemented in the Education sector, we must praise him and the President”, he said.
The MP, during last year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination, promised to support the first few 50 students who will get an aggregate of 6 to 15 in the BECE examination. Last year, 50 students were supported. This year, 50 students were selected and supported with ยข500 each.
The MP said that this initiative is to motivate school students to do well in the exams, knowing that if they excel, MPs will support them.
