A Texas community is left reeling after a local man savagely killed three innocent teenage girls – and then took his own life.
Saturday night, Harris County Sheriff’s Office officers responded to the 2000 block of 2nd Street in Galena Park, after receiving a report of a homicide. After investigation, it was found Humberto Valdez-Saldana has taken and killed 19 years Sayuri Gilwho is six months pregnant, younger sister, 13 years old Melanie Torresand a friend of the girls, 14-year-old Laisha Perezaccording to ABC 13. Valdez-Saldana is Sayuri and Melany’s mother’s boyfriend.
After killing the three girls, the 38-year-old reportedly turned his attention to his 12-year-old sisters Sayuri and Melany, leading them to “break. [her] clothes” before attacking her. Fortunately, he saved her life, telling her to run. Even in her state of confusion, the boy was able to grab his 1-year-old niece – Sayuri’s daughter – and run to a neighbor’s house for help, according to the sheriff’s office.

Neighbor that ring security cameras caught a 12-year-old boy walking from the scene – still “without clothes” and with a baby in his arms – called Galena Park Police, before wrapping them both in a blanket. Neighbors say ABC 13:
“We arrested her because she was not wearing any clothes and was holding a baby and said, ‘My stepfather killed my sister.’ My husband was going home, and I said, ‘No.’ We grabbed him, brought him in. We put a blanket on him, and wrapped the baby. He screamed, ‘He killed my friend. Why my friend? He had nothing to do with this. He also killed my sister and made me take off my clothes.'”
Sayuri and Melany’s mother was not at home at the time of the murder. It’s unclear if Valdez-Saldana was violent toward her or the girls before the incident. For now, investigatorsare not sharing many details about her motive, but say it may have something to do with jealousy. There would never be a chance to ask questions, as he ended up turning off the gun before law enforcement could arrive on the scene. Update: at approximately 10:30 a.m., officers with Galena Park PD responded to a child sexual assault and possible shooting. A 12-year-old boy reported that he was sexually assaulted by his mother’s boyfriend and that he shot another family member at home. The victim stated

ABC 13 spoke with Valdez-Saldana’s 16-year-old ex-wife, who revealed that they had four children together, but he was not in her life – or had paid child support – after he started using drugs and alcohol.

A GoFundMe, which can be opened here, has been set up to help with the “horrible tragedy.” The organizer, a cousin of the two victims, explained:
“My aunt, the girls’ mother, is the sole breadwinner and can’t work because of this and my 12-year-old brother needs therapy.”
Our hearts are with the entire family during this nightmare. I hope the 12-year-old can get over some of the trauma in therapy – but thanks to him, the 1-year-old can be saved. Rest in peace to three girls who were taken from this earth too far.
