2023 is already quite a year in terms of movies, music, art and culture, award shows and we are only three months away. Over the last month and even last year, celebrities have been teasing the upcoming album release through social media, interviews, and offhand remarks.
While some feel like it’s a dream because it’s based on hope and not reality – que Rihanna and Cardi B.
Ahead, check out some of the most anticipated album releases in 2023;
Tems
Last year, singer Grammy and Oscar Tems, assured fans of new music on Twitter, after he was invited on the platform to deny the release date of the album.
The tweet read: “@temsbaby promised an album this year but why haven’t we heard anything like that?” the fan wrote on Nov. 19. 2022 to which Tems replied, “Next Year!”
“Next Year” is here and we’re three months in, but we still haven’t heard from Tems or the team about the album.
Meanwhile, Tems is on the rise as his feature with Drake and Future on “Wait For You” earned him a Grammy award for Melodic Rap Performance. Joining Sade Adu, the Nigerian-British singer is the only Nigerian female act to win a Grammy. Sade Adu won the Grammy award for Best New Artist in 1986.
Tems’ outstanding contribution as a songwriter in Rihanna’s “Lift Me Up” for Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ was nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars 2023, but unfortunately did not win.
Chloe
Perhaps the most anticipated album release of 2023, Chloé Bailey has been teasing her debut solo album for years and it will finally be released on March 31, 2023.
Chlöe, in preparation for the release of her album, has revealed the album cover of her album. Speaking about the inspiration for the cover, she said, “I saw a photo of a porcelain doll 3 years ago, holding her heart like this and from then on, I said that this would be my album cover… my sleeve,”
“The beginning of a scary and exciting journey for me. This cap represents a lot for me, even my hair color. When I had red hair 1.5 years ago, it was one of the darkest times in my life. That’s why I never wore it again.”
Chlöe has released two songs from the album, “Pray it Away” and “How Does It Feel”, a controversial collaboration with Chris Brown.
Card B
It has been five years since Cardi B released her debut album ‘Invasion of Privacy’, and while she has consistently released singles and features, launched a clothing line in collaboration with Fashion Nova and given birth to two babies, Cardi B has done everything but release a new album.
However, he continues to tease fans with videos and some hints about the album.
On October 28, 2021, a video without sound was posted on Cardi B’s fan account. The video featured several music executives presenting Cardi with new music.
