The Sorvino family did not like it Oscar.
If you watch any prestigious award show, you know that sadly, the “In Memoriam” segment is something you can expect to see on every broadcast. It allows us time to honor the late, great members of the industry who have died in the time leading up to the event, and gives grieving families another chance to see their loved ones publicly lauded. But what happens when someone is left behind?
As we reported yesterday, this is the case for several stars, including the last Paul Sorvino, whose career in Tinseltown spanned over 50 years – and his wife and daughter were not happy. In a statement released to Entertainment Tonight Monday, Paul’s widow, Dee Dee Sorvinocall the Academy:
“Paul Sorvino is one of the greatest actors in the history of cinema in Hollywood. It is unconscionable that he will be left out of the In Memoriam section of the Oscars. It’s a three-hour event, they can’t give a few minutes to get it right? Paul Sorvino gave decades to the industry this and loved by all Paul is not the only soul who deserves to be left, and QR Code is unacceptable.

He always referred to a link to a longer “In Memoriam” section on the Academy’s website, which was time-cut during the live broadcast. We certainly don’t envy the crew having to make decisions about who to cut… He continued:
“The Academy must apologize, admit mistakes and do better. Paul Sorvino deserves better, the audience is better, is the Academy so jaded that they forget their loved ones, who have given their hearts to this industry? Shame on the Academy if this is not corrected. Mistakes were made , this is a big mistake. Please do something to fix it.
He certainly raises some good points! You tell me that there is enough time for many Will Smith joke, but does not include the full tax for members of the industry that has passed on? Oof.
Then Paul’s daughter, Mira Sorvinotake for Twitter to share your thoughts:
“It’s confusing that my beloved father and so many other amazing actors are gone. The Oscars forgot about Paul Sorvino, but the others will never forget!!
It is baffling beyond belief that the beloved father and many other amazing actors left brilliantly. Oscar forgot Paul Sorvino, but the rest of us won’t!! https://t.co/dbgcfb1qy3 via @forthewin
