Michael Essien secures UEFA A coaching licence
Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has successfully completed Europe’s top coaching course, his UEFA A licence.
Having obtained his initial B license in 2020, the 40-year-old can finally manage any team after his latest achievements.
Essien, who has worked as part of the staff of Danish club, FC Nordsjaelland, thanked the affiliated clubs for obtaining the certificate.

Before 2020, when he finally kicked a ball, Essien had spent the majority of his playing career in Europe actively playing for Bastia, Olympic Lyon, Chelsea, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Panathinaikos.
He also played for Australian club Persib Bandung and Sabail in the Azerbaijan Premier League.
In addition to winning collective titles with Lyon and Chelsea including all of England’s domestic cups as well as the UEFA Champions League, he also has many individual awards to his name.
Before joining Chelsea, he won Ligue’s best player at the end of the 2004-05 season. He was also named the BBC’s African player of the year in 2006 as well as Chelsea’s player of the season in 2006-07,
Apart from 2007, Essien was also named in the CAF team of the year in every year between 2005 and 2009.
