
Former President Donald Trump made a legal move on Thursday that former lawyer Michael Cohen called “one of the dumbest moves I can imagine.”
The attorney said he initially thought the subpoena was from the New York Attorney General Letitia James, who says she’s considered strange because “I will be happy to come in and testify to whatever you want.
But after reading the document, Cohen learned that the subpoena was genuine Trump’s lawyers asked him to give a deposition, which is called “one from the dumbest move I can think of to wish for.
“Obviously, the information that I gave was based on documentation, you know, on documentary evidence, and if they thought they were going to harass me, it’s not going to happen. They’re not going to benefit from it,” he said.
Cohen didn’t specify exactly what Trump’s lawyers wanted to get rid of during the MSNBC interview. HuffPost reached out to him on social media, but did not immediately respond.
The attorney said he will meet with other attorneys to determine if he wants to make a motion to quash the subpoena “and Actually showing Donald the same consideration as the American people.
Cohen said he had his 15th interview with investigators at the Manhattan district attorney’s office last week as prosecutors presented evidence to a grand jury about the former president’s involvement in payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels. Daniels said she had an affair with Trump.
