MetaMaska popular crypto wallet provider, recently informed its users about the fraudulent activities carried out by Namecheap hackers, instructing them to be careful.

Namecheap is a web hosting company that offers a variety of hosting services to its clients. The company provides services to corporate and individual website owners, including small and large businesses. Some hosting plans are virtual private servers, shared hosting, managed WordPress hosting, and dedicated servers.

In a recent development, NameCheap discovered the mismanagement of one of its third-party services through important security features, such as SSL certificates, advanced firewalls, and more.

MetaMask warns users about ongoing fraudulent activity

according to to web hosting company Namecheap, hackers compromised one of several third-party services. In sus say that hackers are using this service to send unauthorized emails to certain MetaMask users. The main idea behind the move is to access investors’ personal information to claim their crypto.

Hackers send emails to investors to complete KYC verification quickly. He added that failure to follow the instructions would result in suspension of the account. Attackers also insert marketing links to an email from NameCheap.

The hack includes a link that directs investors to a cloned MetaMask website that asks for the user’s secret recovery phrase, which it claims protects the wallet.

Meanwhile, MetaMask warns users that it does not perform KYC (Know Your Customer) verification process, and also does not contact users via email regarding account information.

Wallet providers also encourage users to be cautious and vigilant in protecting their assets. It recommends that users enable two-factor authentication on their accounts to add an extra layer of security.

Namecheap Service Remains Intact

The web-hosting company, Namecheap, has declare that the service remains intact, because hackers cannot access customer accounts. The company also noted that it acted quickly to address the incident. In addition, it is stated that the mailing system begins to behave as usual within the first two hours after the initial incident.

Namecheap too quoted has stopped the fake shipment and is communicating with the upstream provider to ensure that they have resolved the issue and prevent it from happening again.
