Crypto wallet MetaMask is ending support for Wyre’s crypto payment platform service amid reports of Wyre’s plans to shut down operations.
MetaMask took to Twitter on January 5 to declare which has removed Wyre from mobile aggregators, which allow users to buy crypto directly through digital wallets.
“We are currently working on the extension and appreciate your patience,” MetaMask said, asking users not to use Wyre on mobile aggregators.
According to the announcement, MetaMask still supports many other payment gateways, including Transak, MoonPay, and Sardine. The service is available on Apple Pay, bank cards and transfers, MetaMask notes.
The news comes after Wyre CEO Ioannis Giannaros reportedly told employees that the company would shut down operations.
“We’re going to continue to do everything we can, but I want everyone to prepare themselves in case we have to take the business out of business in the next few weeks,” Giannaros said.
