Sheriff, who studied Basic Education at UDS, believes sanitary pads are a necessity for women, but the cost is unaffordable for some.
He noted that some students had complained about the rising cost of sanitary napkins, so he decided to donate them.
Meanwhile, the President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) Dennis Appiah Larbi-Ampofo has called for the tax on sanitary napkins to be abolished.
He said this during the first edition of the “Girl Power Project” program organized at the University of Cape Coast earlier in March.
She noted that girls from underprivileged homes have been left behind due to the high cost of sanitary pads in the country.
Therefore, she asked the government to waive the tax paid on sanitary napkins to make them affordable for all girls.
