YouGov’s We;/bad rating when he was PM

Are they really an electoral asset?

This weekend we saw the new Conservative organization holding its first meeting in Bournemouth and it is believed that the aim is to get Boris back in number 10.

Yesterday on Twitter, I came across a long argument with some pro-Johnson supporters about the electability of the person they support and I was amazed at how persistent it was. The real problem they have is that Johnson looks like he’s losing the vote as you can see in the chart from YouGov.

We still have to see the final report of the Commons Privileges committee on whether he misled the house but there is a real possibility he could be suspended raising the prospect of recall petitions in the Uxbridge and South Ruislip constituencies. There is only the possibility of Johnson being removed as an MP.

His supporters will always point to the Tory performance in GE2019, but they ignore that the biggest driver of ex-LAB voters from the party is its leader Corbyn. The election was not for Johnson, but against Corbyn.

Another major victory for the London mayor was against another now discredited Labor figure, Ken Livingstone.
