Melissa Gorga and his wife, Joe Gorgawas given a daughter Antonia Gorga with a Porsche Macan for his 17th birthday in August 2022. But this week, after an argument with his youngest son, Joey Gorga12, in The Real Housewives of New Jersey the couple took away her keys.
When you look at it Jeff Lewis‘ radio show earlier this week, where he discussed parenting with Flipping Out alum, Melissa opened up about the family spat that caused Antonia to be banned from driving her new car for a whole week.
“If I’m being honest with you. My way is to yell all the time,” Melissa said about parenting on the Jan. 26 episode of SiriusXM. Jeff Lewis Lives. “[It’s] bad. As I did, as I told you to do, and I am angry that you did.
As for her husband, Melissa said Joe just “shakes his head”.
“Joe just listens. He was one of the buildup people… And then it exploded,” he explained.
According to Melissa, her latest blowup with Antonia happened last Sunday after a long weekend of family activities. When he remembers, Joey asked to go snowboarding with his friends when they lived in. And, when the location where he did this was only 15 or 20 minutes away, the couple was not in the mood to go back out – and did not have. nanny work on time.
“We are tired. Antonia was there. [And] he has a really nice car that he paid for,” Melissa explained. “[So] Joe told Antonia, ‘Antonia, get in your car. Go get him. He wants to go snowboarding.’”
While Melissa describes her young daughter as a “good kid,” Antonia refuses to put Joey down, telling her father, “Absolutely not.”
“Back and forth for 20 minutes he just refused to drive his sister,” Melissa said. “He was like, ‘He’s so annoying. Why do you have to go, Joe?’ [And] We were like, ‘We ask you for a favor. You have everything. We do everything for you. Get up and take my brother.’”
And although Joe is usually a calm old man, he “lost his sh-t” and told Antonia, “Gimme your car keys,” and has been stuck by punishment for days since.
“He hasn’t driven the car all this week. It’s the first time we’ve done this to him,” Melissa said. “And he’s like, ’cause you’re going to learn respect. Like when your parents take care of you, and they pay your car payment, and we ask for help, the next time they ask you, you’re going to get out of your car — and you’re going to drive your car. my brother.'”
At RHONJ cast members then told Jeff that Antonia has been “tormenting” him and “disappearing” all week while Joe has continued to stick to his guns. In fact, even after Melissa begs him to reconsider because of the trouble he has to drive to Antonia’s place, Joe won’t give up.
“So I wonder if they say ‘no’ again. And this is why you have to take it away again, more than a few days to the point where they are like, ‘Oh sh-t are serious,'” Melissa noted. “Sometimes I feel that children -my son will cross again, but he won’t cross Joe because he only held it for a week.”
“The next thing he would do was get up and drive his sister,” she added.
