“Democrats were generally overcome with joy” when President Joe Biden nominated Garland for the post in 2021, five years after the Republican Senate blocked his nomination to the Supreme Court. “He finally has a counter.”
But Hasan said no. Garland, he said, was “out of depth and defeated” by Republicans, especially as figures such as House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) called for an investigation into classified government documents found in Biden’s home and former office.
“This is Kevin who doesn’t care about ‘justice’ or ‘equality under the law’ when Donald Trump with the alleged nuclear document in Mar-a-Lago – refuses to give back, by the way. ,” said Hasan. “Republicans who do not believe it’s everywhere.”
“The hypocrisy and bad faith of the modern GOP should be obvious to anyone paying attention,” Hasan said. “So, maybe Merrick Garland just isn’t.”
