Earlier this week, we reported what was described as a victory for Meghan Markle in her never-ending legal battle against her evil half-sister, Samantha Markle.
To discuss what happened and why Meghan’s team won, we first explain the background of this case:
Yes, Samantha has filed a libel suit against Meghan, but she probably knows she won’t be able to see the money.
The idea of her winning attracted so much media attention that she was able to embarrass her more successful sister and stay relevant.

So Samantha is very eager to skip to the deposition part of the trial, even though she said the depositions prove to be damaging to her case.
Meghan’s lawyers have been trying to delay that stage in the hope that the case can be thrown out (seemingly inevitable) before their client is forced to endure invasive questioning.
On Tuesday, Meghan’s lawyers succeeded in having the next hearing postponed until July 5, which gives them more than three months to convince the judge that the sibling rivalry should not be decided in court.

But despite appearances to the contrary, Samantha’s lawyer, Jamie Sasson, said that there is no cause for concern.
In fact, he suggested this week that Meghan had accepted the fact that she was about to be axed.
“It looks as if they’re going to allow us to take Meghan’s deposition,” Sasson said. Newsweek.

“It’s not yet coordinated, and it’s logistical,” he said.
However, Sasson added that he thought it would be difficult for the team to get Prince Harry’s deposition.
“But I’m sure there’s going to be an issue about Harry and him claiming it’s irrelevant,” he said.
“Right now, we don’t have a date set for Meghan, so you can read between the lines, but the goal is to take a deposition. I’m still hoping to win the motion to dismiss.

Samantha sued Meghan not only for the lie that the Princess told in the 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, but also for the part that appeared in Seeking Freedom2020 book by British journalist Omid Scobie.
Yes, Meghan was sued for a book written by someone else.
Samantha’s lawyer said the emails between Sussex and Scobie showed there was a collaborative relationship between the author and the subject.

“I totally agree that we should be able to say we have nothing to do with it,” Harry wrote in an email to Scobie.
“Also, you giving us the right context and background will help us get some of the truth out there.”
According to Sasson, the email alone was enough to get Harry fired.

“It’s not like he didn’t implicate himself based on those emails that were found in the Jason Knauf case,” the attorney said.
“Obviously, he was there [during the Oprah interview]. Is there a discussion? What was discussed earlier? I think it’s relevant.”
So it looks like the Markles may finally be squaring off in court, after all.
And in the meantime, Samantha will make some headlines, which is all she wants.
