The Real Housewives of Orange County alum Meghan king defended his decision to speak to a fellow OC veteran Kelly Dodd.
Kelly recently criticized her former co-star Braunwyn Windham-Burke after she asked for more money in spousal support and child support from her estranged husband, Sean Burkeafter claiming to have only $2,900 to his name.
Kelly reposted a Page Six article detailing Braunwyn’s condition and captioned it, “You wake up, you’re going to be broken.” Kelly and Braunwyn have been at constant odds over their differing political beliefs throughout their tenure together RHOC.
Kelly’s criticism of “single women” did not sit well with Meghan, who is a single mother, and she found Kelly’s comments to be in “bad taste”.
“Don’t rip off single moms who need more money because it’s affecting all single women trying to get back on their feet after a divorce,” Meghan said during an Instagram Live session.
Meghan went on to say that it was “typical” for a woman to find herself in a difficult financial situation after a divorce and “don’t say anything bad about what we think.”
During the conversation, one fan claimed that Kelly deliberately brought Braunywn up because of her “gay lifestyle”, and she accused Meghan of supporting Braunwyn. Meghan denies this and insists that her sexuality has nothing to do with her goals.
“Kelly is specifically talking about Braunwyn because he lives a gay lifestyle and doesn’t live with his kids. Braunwyn is looking to Sean to support his lifestyle,” a fan commented.
Meghan replied, “Can you see the bigger picture here? Or do [you] still believe I’m making this up about Braunwyn?” He then added, “And saying ‘gay’ lifestyle is straight up bigotry. What does ‘gay’ have to do with this? If you don’t like the way they live, say you don’t agree with their ‘LIFESTYLE’. GAY has nothing to do with this.
Meghan then clarified that she was defending “the system” and not blindly defending Braunwyn because she didn’t have “enough information” to form an accurate picture of her situation.
In December 2022, the dispute reached a new level when Kelly leaked images of a text exchange between Meghan and her discussing Braunwyn’s finances. In the message, Kelly called Braunwyn a “fame wh*re” who “fled” to New York. Meghan can be seen defending Braunwyn and accusing Kelly of “no [being] nice” and “perpetuate negative attitudes towards divorced women” who are “struggling”.
Neither side has reached a resolution.
