Mid-Beds – small elections that will not exist?
On June 9, Mid-Beds MP Nadine Dorries announced that she was resigning as an MP “with immediate effect”.
He soon learned that the House of Lords committee advising the PM on the matter had rejected Boris Johnson’s proposal to honor his resignation if he should become a peer.
Many weeks have passed since then and Nadine remains an MP. The only way a by-election can be triggered is by creating a vacancy in the seat which means they have to stand down.
The LDs who prefer to have a chance at their seats have been working hard in the hope that there will be a vacancy. There is an active betting market on the Mid Beds election but no one knows yet what will happen. There is even a Wikipedia page.
My view as I have said before is that he will not stop
