Mauricio Umansky open up about past feuds with Rick Hilton in his recently released memoir, Dealmaker: How to Succeed in Business & Life Through Dedication, Determination & Distractionwhich was released on Tuesday.
Looking back at his decision to leave Rick’s real estate company to start his own and showing how Rick and his wife, Kathy Hiltonrespond to that, the Buy Beverly Hills star, who is also seen together with his wife Kyle Richards at The Real Housewives of Beverly Hillsconfirmed Kyle was “unconditionally support” the decision.
“He’s not just my wife; he’s my best friend,” she wrote in her book, via Us Weekly .
According to Mauricio, he left Hilton & Hyland to launch The Agency in 2011 after Rick refused to make him a “full partner” in his business.
“I went home to Kyle and told him what happened,” Mauricio recalled. “He agreed with me that it wasn’t fair. But in the end it didn’t matter what we thought. In my opinion, Rick was not going to change his mind, and he wasn’t ready to pay what I wanted.
However, Mauricio confirmed that he will stay in Rick’s company if he agrees to pay him what he “deserves,” give him a better position, and give him “an inkling of professional love.”
“For their part, they don’t see it that way,” Mauricio said. “They don’t know how they can make decisions overnight and don’t give them a chance to convince them otherwise.”
After his decision to leave Hilton & Hyland, Mauricio said Rick cut ties with him and did the same with Kyle.
“And of course his wife, Kathy — Kyle’s sister — did the same thing,” Mauricio said. “He cut off all communication and didn’t invite us to Thanksgiving dinner or any other holidays.”
“He and Kathy were very angry with us, which is not the way I want to live,” Mauricio said. “Of course, Kyle was in a lot of pain from that reaction, and it was a hard pill for him to swallow.”
And while Mauricio and Rick have gotten to a better place, Kyle and Kathy are now out of touch after suffering an injury during filming. RHOBA last 12 years.
