It all started when a teacher reportedly posted nude photos “accidentally,” according to school officials. Per Fox 5 News‘ report, the teacher sent an email to the student containing a picture of a school-related picture that had been saved in the photo. But at the bottom of the picture, in the device’s camera roll, there is also a “sexually explicit” photo that can be seen as well.

According to the news org, the teacher seems to be very fast. School administrators are trying to take action in light of the email. But it was too late. Even after a retraction attempt, the school confirmed “many individuals” saw the photo. Apparently, some of those people have now circulated the photos to a wider audience.

In an official letter sent to students and parents Friday afternoon, Wise High School principal Taryn Washington explain what happened. He claimed the photo was sent “accidentally,” and that school staff couldn’t retrieve the email before someone opened it:

“Dear family, I am writing to inform you about what happened at SMA Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr. today. A Wise employee accidentally sent an email message containing sexual photographs to all students. Immediate action was taken by school administrators to revoke the correspondence; However, many people see these photos and then share them with others.

Principal Washington continued the letter by explaining to the family that mental health professionals and school counselors will be available to students who need “immediate support” after seeing the images.

In addition, the principal explained vaguely that “appropriate steps have been taken” with the staff who posted the photo in the first place:

“I ask that all students, as responsible online citizens, do not share these photos via email, social media or any other means. Mental Health Clinics and Professional School Counselors are available to provide immediate support if needed for students. Appropriate measures have been taken was done about the employee. We sincerely apologize for this incident.”

As Fox 5 News noted on Friday evening, it was not clear what the “appropriate measures” were. Parents began to share their frustration with the outlet about teachers being able to send emails to all students without oversight from administrators.

In the beginning, the Prince George’s County Police Department look at the incident as well. But after an investigation, a spokesperson for the department told news outlets over the weekend that they do not plan to press charges. For now, police say they are “not investigating the matter.” Meanwhile, Prince George County Public Schools has since stated the issue will be “handled internally” from here on out.
