The explosion of a petrol-laden tanker in Lagos state has reportedly injured several residents.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning along the Abeokuta expressway
According to witnesses, the residual product was seen burning inside drainages in the area.
Residents were said to have trooped out to scoop the product, despite repeated warning by emergency workers.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency ( LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident.
He said the accident involved a fully loaded diesel tanker, which overturned and caught fire along Abeokuta expressway, inward Agege.
“The Fire has been contained, while residual product burning in drainage has also being addressed. No fatalities. One male sustained burn injuries and is receiving treatment,” he said.
