Many burnt to death in explosion in Rivers community | The Guardian Nigeria News

An explosion occurred early Friday at Rumuekpe in Emeoha Rivers Local Government Area, leaving many people, including women and children as well as vehicles burnt to ashes.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the incident happened at about 2 am at the crude oil tapping point.

Public Relations Officer in Rivers, SP Grace Iringe-Koko who confirmed the incident in Port Harcourt, said that the number of victims has not been confirmed.

“I have called the DPO and said he will round up the patrol team and get back to me. Just wait and I will get the details,” he said.

NAN gathered that the explosion occurred as a bus loaded with some siphoned crude up in flames, as it left a place for an illegal refinery in the area.
