In recent years, manipulation and hack attacks in the crypto sector have increased; for example, Mango Market is one of the networks exploited in 2022, resulting in a loss of $117 million. After the hack, the network recovered $67 million from an attacker named Avraham Eisenberg.
In a recent development, Avraham Eisenberg sought to preserve the remaining funds. According to his lawyer, the exploiter has settled with the Mango Market and should keep part of the money.
Abraham Eisenberg Vs. Mango Market Situation
Mango Markets has been on Avraham Eisenberg’s neck with four different lawsuits regarding the exploits he has done. The fourth lawsuit, dated Jan. 25, 2023, seeks $47 million in interest and damages. The decentralized finance protocol (DeFi) also asked the court to declare the former agreement with Eisenberg invalid and unenforceable.
The agreement between DAO and Eisenberg was to allow him to keep $47 million and also stipulate that Mango Market would not press criminal charges against him. But in a January lawsuit, Mango Market argued that the attackers obtained the agreement under duress.
The details show Mango Markets bypassed the government proposal after the exploit, allowing Eisenberg to keep $47 million in funds without further legal action. Lawyer representing Eisenberg, claims the exploiter returned $67 million to the network after the agreement. A few weeks later, Mango Markets returned eligible members. After that, the parties consider the matter settled.
But in Mango Market’s January 25 lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, the chain said it agreed to the terms of the deal. According to the management, there is no legitimate bargaining because the only purpose is to recover the user’s funds.
Fast forward to February 15th, Eisenberg’s attorneys have filed for Mango Market, denying the lawsuit on January 25th. The lawyer argued that Avraham Eisenberg did not have to pay more to Mango Market because he had already agreed and settled with the DAO.

The lawyer recommended Mango Markets to benefit from the arrest of Avraham Eisenberg for fraud in December by US authorities in Puerto Rico. The charges by the FBI are fraud and commodity manipulation. Also, the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission have ongoing lawsuits against Eisenberg for market manipulation and securities law violations.
