Man remanded by court in connection with viral audio making false claims against police

Statement from the Police, “He is expected to appear in court again on Tuesday, January 31, 2023,” Friday.

Patrick Asiedu in a viral audio painted a vivid picture of his encounter with four policemen and accused them of planting weed and cocaine in his vehicle to extort money from them.

In the audio recording, the person in question introduced himself as Dr. Patrick Asiedu and claimed that he was only released with a fingerprint test and his brother who is a soldier.

He was then picked up by the Police for investigation.

Police said investigations, so far, have established that the man arrested and detained by the police, is indeed Patrick Asiedu, but that he is an Uber driver and not a doctor.

“The investigation revealed that all the stories told in the audio tapes were false and completely fabricated by the suspect,” the police added in a statement.

In another audio recording that has come to the attention of the Police, the suspect claims to have met the Inspector General of Police.

Therefore the Police has thrashed this audio tape describing it as fake and will be disregarded.

Meanwhile, Police said investigations are ongoing and suspect Patrick Asiedu who is currently in custody will face trial.
