Former President John Dramani Mahama committed corruption while in office, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Deputy Director of Communications Ernest Owusu Bepah has said.

Mr. Bempah said that the Mahama government used $260 million to build only one intercahnge, the Circle Interchange, while President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo used $289 to build Pokuase, Tema, Obetseibi and Tamale.

He said this while racing against the decision of former President John Dramani Mahama to choose his nomination form to contest in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer election.

Professor Joshua Alabi who led the team to select nomination forms on behalf of Mr. Mahama said Ghanaians will see signs of economic growth in the first two years of Mr. Mahama’s administration if he wins the 2024 general election.

He said, “Under the leadership of John Mahama in two years, you will see signs of growth, we will stabilize economic growth. [and] in the end, the NPP will never see power again.

He added, “We are here to collect forms for HE John Dramani Mahama. As you know, we are in very difficult times in this country, the economy is collapsing, people are suffering and the bottom line here is that people are crying for the NDC to come back.”

“The NDC has gone through all its structures, and elections, it is time for the flag bearer to deliver the 2024 elections,” he said.

Responding to this in an interview with 3news.com, Mr. Owusu Bepah said “we all know our political history, what does Mahama offer Ghanaians? As Vice President, as caretaker president and sitting president, for six years he ran the economy like a casino economy .The main legacy is dumsor which is a nightmare for every Ghanaian, hundreds of thousands of jobs lost.

“The economy is on its knees when there is no global crisis, running GDP 3 percent.

“We handed over an economy that found oil in commercial quantities, the GDP was about 14 percent when we left power but when Mahama took over before 2012, the GDP went down to 3.5 percent of the GDP, that tells you how the economy has gone down. This is the economy that the NDC left behind , with abysmal performance in all sectors.

“Ordinary barbers, barbers, trotro drivers are suffering, we are not yet in a pandemic, but this is growing, it is terrible in the NDC. In 2013 the depreciation of the Cedi was 14.5 percent, in 2014 there was a 31.3 percent depreciation, we are talking about the dead sheep.Most industries in Ghana collapsed under the NDC regime, from PNDC to Mahama NDC, so I dare you to come and tell me that it is not true.

“In the banking sector, the interest rate is about 35 to 40 percent under Mahama, the cost of borrowing is high, there is no crisis, and corruption is the order of the day, Mahama is making corruption in this country, he is making corruption part of us. body politics , to the extent that the leader himself is a part, such as the Kanazoe fiasco, the Airbus scandal, Isofotone. The company cited by Bloomberg and the New York Times as one of the most corrupt companies in the world was awarded a $260 million contract to build a roundabout interchange.

“In Akufo, $289 million was used to build four interchanges in Ghana, Obetsebi, Pokuase, Tema and Tamale interchange.

“When it comes to education, children from poor families cannot get free education according to the dead sheep of social democracy. Parents cannot send their children to school because they are poor.
