Mahama Threatens Bank of Ghana Staff
John Mahama
Former President John Dramani Mahama has said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government will embark on reforms at the Bank of Ghana (BoG).
According to him, the priority when forming a new government in 2025 is to restore stability and inclusive economic growth.
He said he would do this by controlling various indicators to alleviate the suffering of Ghanaians.
“We will apply strict prudence and accountability in the management of public finances by eliminating waste and ostentation, which has become common in this administration. Together, we will build the Ghana we want. We will restore faith in a financial system that is on the verge of collapse and begin reforms at the Bank of Ghana.
“We will actively implement policies to ensure strong local participation in the banking, financial, telecommunications, mining, agricultural, agribusiness and manufacturing sectors. This will be linked to our plans to grow the economy and create sustainable jobs for our youth,” he said. Mr. Mahama at the launch of his campaign to contest the NDC flag election, in Ho on Thursday, March 2.
He added, “We will invest in productive economic sectors like agriculture, industry, technology, digitization and tourism to drive growth and create jobs for the youth who are constantly losing hope.
“With the limited fiscal space we will inherit due to the economic mismanagement of the NPP, the new NDC Government will give priority to continuing and completing abandoned and ongoing projects rather than hastily starting new projects. I will assemble and operate the most efficient government lean but the most efficient of our four republics We will reduce, significantly, the size of government.
“As I announced in my Ghana We Want address at the UPSA late last year, I will form a government of less than sixty (60) ministers and deputy ministers of state. I will initiate and carry out the most far-reaching constitutional, political and governance reforms in the fourth republic with the goal of restoring confidence in our democracy and system of government, and making life easier and better for our people.
“Responding to the concerns and calls of many of you, I will initiate and carry out the most far-reaching constitutional, political and governance reforms to restore confidence in our democracy.”
