Mahama launched a digital donation platform for the campaign
Former President, John Dramani Mahama, has launched a digital retail donation campaign platform to raise money from Ghanaians locally and from people in the diaspora to help with the 2024 campaign.
He explained that the donation channels include official Zenith bank account number, John Mahama campaign mobile money number, USSD code and John Mahama fundraising mobile app.
Mr. Mahama disclosed this when he delivered a public lecture on ‘financing political campaigns’ at the UPSA auditorium on Wednesday, March 22.
“We are launching a digital retail donation campaign tonight to maximize small donations from Ghanaians, both locally and in the diaspora. The platform is transparent and has a dashboard screen that will show all inflows in real time. The dashboard is then linked to the collection bank account so that results from all channels can be received immediately and used for the intended purpose,” he said.
He added, “four (4) channels will be available to send donations. These include:
1. John Mahama’s campaign mobile money number.
2. USSD code.
3. Official Zenith Bank Account Number; and
4. John Mahama fundraising mobile app.
There will be a hotline that can be called and is always accessible to ask questions. You can also email

He noted that the fundraising platform will promote a more transparent and accessible way to raise funds to run the 2024 campaign.
“Thus I have adopted crowdfunding technology to promote more transparent and accessible ways to collect funds to carry out my 2024 campaign,” said Mr. Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr. Mahama further explained that this smart digital retail fundraising platform aims to expand the scope of campaign financiers who are generally small.
A flagbearer has hope from the NDC again, “I want to introduce an interactive and smart digital retail fundraising platform to expand the scope of campaign financiers with the aim of overcoming dependence on some. There are opportunities that arise for political parties to expand their sources of funding.
“This new opportunity is driven by technology and in particular, electronic crowdfunding platforms, as used in developed countries. The use of reliable fintech payment systems will push this agenda to improve citizen participation in the financing of political party activities”.
He encouraged the public to donate freely to the campaign and add to the donation platform

Mr. Mahama said, “I encourage everyone to donate freely. I must also emphasize that the retail donation platform complies with the Crowdfunding Policy issued by the Bank of Ghana in February 2022. Therefore, the framework will be managed in line with strict regulatory policies. It is now our honor to announce the official launch of the John Mahama 2024 Campaign Refund Platform”.
