After Trump is gone, resistance to MAGA ideology must continue. Democrats need to educate Trump MAGA supporters about what autocracy looks like if the leader of the country is a vindictive, autocratic democrat. Trump prefers autocracy to democracy. A year ago, Trump humiliated America in Helsinki by endorsing Vladimir Putin when he refused to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. He kissed Putin’s feet, causing a global cringe. Putin beamed as he watched our puppet president square off with one of America’s most dangerous enemies, trusting our intelligence community. At that moment, it became clear that Trump had a personal agenda with Putin, and that America’s national security and reputation were at risk. Republican silent members of Congress and Trump supporters must be held accountable for the damage that Trump and Trumpism have done to the American way of life.

An American president who admires a dangerous autocrat is a sign of an attempt to overturn the results of the presidential election and prevent a peaceful transfer of power.
