At Labor Party (LP) said some opposition parties pressured the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow the victory of the FCT senate candidate, Ireti Kingibe, to vote.
Peter Diugwu, chairman of FCT LP, said this at a press conference on Friday in Abuja.
He said the parties frequently visited the FCT INEC office to change the results that had been announced and certificates of return issued.
He did not mention the name of the party nor did he give any reason why the opposition party did so.
Mrs Kingibe, a non-indigene from the FCT defeated the incumbent senator, Philip Aduda, an indigene and PDP candidate, in the February 25 election.
“We ask INEC not to follow any attempt or funny act with back goimg to spoil the announced results.
“We advise INEC to do the needful and leave the Labor Party candidate as the winner.
“We have confidence in FCT INEC and we know that they will not act funny,” he said.

Mr. Diugwu commended the people of FCT for coming out en masse to vote for the LP candidate in the presidential and National Assembly elections.
He said the support of FCT residents shows that they believe in the party’s dream of moving Nigeria from a consumption economy to a production economy.
“We want to thank all FCT residents who came out on February 25 to vote for our candidate, even our presidential candidate won with a landslide victory in the FCT.
“We also thank all the support groups and conventioneers who stood by us to ensure this victory was possible.
“Our candidate Ireti Kingibe won the senatorial seat and other LP candidates despite being kidnapped,” he said.

Mr. Diugwu said that the LP is not in the form of alliance with other parties in the gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections on Saturday, urging the candidates in the states to remain strong because God will help them to win.
He called on party supporters across the country especially the ‘obidents’ to vote for the LP from top to bottom and prove to the people that the party has grassroots influence.
