It’s pretty safe to say that Loren Brovarnik’s parents are against the idea of moving to Israel. Adamantly so.
On Loren & Alexei: After 90 Days This season, the family trip to Israel has led to increased family tension.
Even if Loren’s parents were right, they were wrong. But… it might have some points.
For example? Loren is very dependent on her parents for child care. And, as you can see in the video below, he made that point loud and clear this week.
In this week’s episode, Loren Brovarnik takes steps to prepare for a potential move to Israel.
She and her husband, Alexei, had discussed the idea of living there for years. This means that all three children will also live there for many years.
His parents had strongly objected. Not only balked, but also heated and insulting yelling fits over it.
Anyway, Loren’s desire to at least prepare for this hypothetical-yet-possible move to Israel includes (gasp) learning about where he lives.
So Loren has studied Hebrew, while in Israel, to improve his language skills.
But Loren has children. She and Alexei were busy doing things on this family trip. How do they manage to make time to go to class?
Naturally, Loren needed a babysitter for his children before learning Hebrew.
However, as revealed during the episode, his parents refused. She refused to raise her grandmother on her own.
And, clearly, it wasn’t for lack of interest in spending time with Shai and Asher. (When this season was filmed, Loren had not yet given birth to Ariel)
In the scene, Loren updates Alexei and the camera about his parents’ rejection and what his apparent motives are.
“I feel like my parents are deliberately saying no now to watch the kids and help us,” she speculated.
Loren added that this was only because “he was angry and very difficult.”
“Honestly, yes, we’ve fought over the years,” Loren said of her dynamic with her mother, Marlene, and father, Bryan.
“But,” Loren emphasized, “we’ve never gotten this far.”
This could be because Loren had never considered spending half a decade on another continent to raise her children there before.
Loren points out that her sister refuses to dump her.
Rebecca clearly wants to give Loren a preview of what she’s going to do when she cuts off her support system.
That is, what Loren’s loved ones have been reminding him of (if not doing a good job of communicating in a healthy way) since he started talking about it.
“He just asked if we would be available – I said ‘We love our time with the boys and I wouldn’t trade that for anything, but we can’t help it out this time,'” Marlene reported to Bryan.
The family said Loren needed a “dose of reality.” Because living in another country is not like going on a family vacation.
As Marlene explained, “Obviously, I want my family to be whole again, but it depends on Loren and Alex.”
