Lordina Mahama Gifts Boreholes For 2 Communities in Bono East
Former First Lady and President of the Lordina Foundation, Lordina Dramani Mahama, has provided Ampoma and Bodom communities in Bono Eastern Region with a water supply system to celebrate their 60th anniversary.
Ibu Mahama, born on March 6, 1963, decided to solve the water situation in Ampoma and Bodom, the hometowns of her mother and father, by building a mechanical well system to serve both communities.
Inaugurating the Community Water Supply System ahead of her 60th birthday, Mrs. Mahama emphasized the importance of community ownership and why people and their chiefs must work together to ensure effective management of the water system.
The President of Yayasan Lordina noted the importance of having quality water in the community, adding that good drinking water helps improve hygiene, public health, and a clean environment.
The Ampoma Community Water Supply System has three water stations and six storage tanks with a capacity of 30,000 liters. Each station has eight pipes to serve the community.
The Bodom Community Water Supply System, on the other hand, has one water station made of 10 stand pipes and a storage capacity of 30,000 liters.

Mrs. Mahama, after being inaugurated, handed over the means to a management committee consisting of seven members from each community, who will be responsible for efficient, effective, and responsible management.
This is just one of the many philanthropic moves by Mrs. Mahama and her husband across the country, over the years.
In 2022, to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary, Lordina Mahama and her husband built and furnished a 45-bed Maternity and Children’s Ward for Bole District Hospital.
The 865 square meter facility has a standby generator, Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with three incubators, five phototherapy units, and baby scales.
