Let’s protect the 4th Republican dispensation – Akufo-Addo
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on all Ghanaians and the rest of the world to ensure that the 4th Republic dispensation is protected.
Mr. Akufo-Addo called for unity among Ghanaians to protect them.
In his speech during the 66th independence day commemoration on Monday, March 6, he said “The 4Th The Republic is the longest period of stable constitutional government in our history. We must unite in our goal to protect, because only a free, democratic government and intelligent economic management will bring the upliftment Ghanaians want and deserve.
On education, he said that “We must continue to strive to ensure that no Ghanaian child is denied access to quality education, hence the innovative and transformative free SHS policy.
“We must continue to ensure access to affordable health care for all in every region of our country, by continuously improving the National Health Insurance Scheme, developing health infrastructure and improving public health delivery; we must continue to work to achieve food security, and modernize agriculture we; we must continue to work to become an industrial economy with added value, which no longer depends on the production and export of raw materials, but on manufactured goods; we must continue to work to open up all parts of our country through the construction of roads, railways, ports and airports ; we must continue to work to improve accountability, efficiency and transparency in the delivery of public services; we must continue the digitalization process; we must continue the difficult but necessary task of ridding our environment of the threat of galamsey; and we must continue to pay taxes, and demand that the our leaders use it well.
Above all, he added “we must continue to safeguard and protect the security and integrity of our nation from threats from outside and within our borders.
“We cannot allow those who want to divide us along ethnic or religious lines to succeed. Let us deepen the cohesion that exists between us, and let us wear, with pride, the badge that calls us Ghanaians. There is no greater respect good we can do for the memory of all those who fought to free us from the shackles of colonialism and imperialism, except to dedicate this 66.Th celebrate independence to work harder for the unity, strength and purpose of our beloved Ghana.
