As an industry practitioner, the late Ms Anyiam-Osigwe carved her name in the hearts of those she touched directly or indirectly during her life on earth.
It was a rough start to the new year as the Nigerian movie industry woke up Tuesday morning to sad news over the movie icon.
Unfortunate opening for a year barely two weeks, Nollywood is thrown into mourning, with most apparently inconsolable.
Until her death, Ms Anyiam Osigwe was one of the leading lights in the Nigerian movie industry, earning her the nickname ‘Queen of Nollywood.
A statement from his family confirmed the unfortunate incident.
Emmanuel Onyechere Osigwe Anyiam-Osigwe clan described the late filmmaker as an icon of creative transcendence, an extraordinary personality, trailblazer, titan, pathfinder, go-getter, humanitarian, one-of-a-kind creative, and visionary leader in the movies. and the television industry.
“Peace leaves an indelible mark on the sands of time. As a family and a clan, we will continue to do everything necessary to ensure that his legacy lives on,” the statement said.

He added that the African Film Academy Awards and the African Film Academy, along with training programs across Nigeria and the African continent, will make the established institutions run smoothly and with the support of the Osigwe Anyiam-Osigwe Foundation and other Institutions. and Government Agencies he has worked with over the years.
Peace Anyiam-Osigwe
Born on March 30, 1969, the late Ms Anyiam-Osigwe was a Nigerian film producer and entertainment executive.
He is from the famous Osigwe Anyiam-Osigwe family in Nkwerre, Imo State.
She is the only girl in a family of eight children, a factor she says made her a tomboy despite conscious efforts by her mother to bring out her feminine side.

In 2014, he lost his brother, Michael, the general coordinator of the Osigwe Anyiam-Osigwe Foundation, a non-profit organization that gives back to Nigerian society.
The departed Ms Anyiam-Osigwe obtained a Bachelor of Laws & Political Science from Oxford Brookes University, Oxford.
He is a member of the Honorable Society of Inner Temple of Barristers, both in England.

AMAA
His most notable achievement is establishing the African Film Academy Awards (AMAA).
The first award ceremony was held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Nigeria, on May 30, 2005.
Subsequent editions prior to 2012 were held at the same venue, except for the 2008 AMAA Awards, which were moved to Abuja, FCT, for security reasons.
In 2012, the award ceremony was held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, in Lagos State. The 10th edition of AMAA in 2015 was held outside Nigeria for the first time.
In that edition, the late Ms Anyiam-Osigwe resigned as CEO of AMAA.
Writer, writer
The late Ms Anyiam-Osigwe was a writer with a talent for poetry. He has three books for him.
He published his first literary work in Punch newspaper at the age of nine.
He continued to write at an English boarding school and wrote his first book, ‘Teenage Viewpoint’.
Before entering university, he published a magazine, ‘Click’, specifically written to accommodate the black population of England. His work is centered on advocacy causes.
The late Ms Anyiam-Osigwe also published other authors under her publishing company, All Media International.
Television and movies
He also made exploits in television and film. Her television career began with a talk show, ‘Piece Off My Mind’, which focused on people’s reactions to social issues that were not seen in the mainstream media.
The event focuses on advocacy issues for individuals who are typically overlooked or ignored by society.
As a host, he produces TV programs and films from PMO Global Studios. He serves on the Board of Osigwe Anyiam-Osigwe Group.
Another attempt
In 2015, he started the AfricaOne initiative to celebrate Africans in the entertainment industry.
In 2012, he was awarded the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic by the Nigerian government for his contribution to the entertainment industry.
As of 2020, he is the National President of the Association of Film Producers (AMP).
This makes him the seventh to hold the position succeeding Mr. Ralph Nwadike.
He is the Initiator of the 100 Films Project which aims to improve the quality of films produced in Nigeria.
Tribute
His untimely death has cast a shadow over the Nigerian film industry, its practitioners and other stakeholders.
Former president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Segun Arinze, described him as an amazon and an enigma.
“Feeling numb and trying to make sense of this shock. You left like that! Peace Anyiam Osigwe you are an amazon and an enigma. Everything you touch turns to Gold. @AMAAWards and more. It’s a great honor to be with you. Sleep, Sis. May- may you find peace and peace with God,” he wrote.
Twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye, popularly known as P-Square, said they were deeply saddened to learn of the death of the founder of AMAA, whom they considered family.
“Madam Peace, as she is called, has played an important role in our career beyond being one of the most prominent advocates and promoters of Nollywood in the world. For which we remain grateful.
“The history of P-Square cannot be written without mentioning Peace Anyiam-Osigwe,” they wrote in a joint statement.
The late Ms Anyiam-Osigwe is known to have shot her first music video. He also said he had managed people at one point in his career.
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, described his death as a big blow to Nigeria and, in particular, the entertainment industry as a whole.

Also, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, mourned the death of the founder of AMAA, describing him as a strong and positive force in the country’s Creative Industries.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, the Minister was shocked and saddened by the death of the creative amazon, whose contribution to the entertainment industry in general and the film industry, in particular, is legendary.
The minister said the best tribute that can be paid to the deceased is to keep his dream alive through the sustenance of his most recognized project, the African Film Academy Awards.
