Lawrence O’Donnell Spots Kevin McCarthy’s ‘Strangest’ Vow To Marjorie Taylor Greene

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell said Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has landed “another entry in the record book for the strangest and most stupidly-phrased speech” by the speaker of the House.

O’Donnell pointed to a New York Times article in which McCarthy was quoted as telling a friend: “I will never leave that woman. I will always take care of her.”

McCarthy was not “talking about his wife of 31 years, mother of two,” O’Donnell said.

However, McCarthy reportedly made a political marriage vow to the extremist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.). The Times article – titled “How Kevin McCarthy Formed an Ironclad Bond With Marjorie Taylor Greene” – explains how Greene’s help was instrumental in McCarthy finally winning the bid for speakership.

McCarthy “just hopes nobody back in Bakersfield, California, reads The New York Times today,” O’Donnell added.
